BSU Homecoming '08

This will just be a quick one, but fun. We have season tickets to Boise State football -our friends (and neighbors) Kale and Kyle hooked us up, so the four of us get to go to all the games together. It will be a great season! Last Saturday was homecoming we played Bowling Green. We went to the parade then to the game. And, of course, BSU won. The first picture is of us right after the game. You gotta love that blue turf!
This picture was taken at the parade. I LOVE the marching band and who doesn't love the tubas?! I think a band is what makes college football so exciting.

9/11 in Remembrance

Marie and Jeannie both did posts about 9/11, so I thought that I would too. 9/11 is a day that no one in our generation will ever forget. I remember that day. I was still living with my parents, it was about 7:30am and my dad came into my room and said "Amanda, they bombed the Twin Towers! Come and see." As I stumbled out of bed, my mind was racing- is dad crazy, who bombed the towers, etc. As I watched the TV, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Never in my life had I seen America harmed! New York was so far away and it all seemed so surreal. At the same time, I was so scared.

I went to class that day, but I couldn't concentrate, neither could most of the professors, so most classes were cancelled. I was glued to the TV all day watching in horror as the towers fell, the Pentagon was hit, and everyone was wondering where the terrorists would strike next.

Rob was in Argentina serving his mission at the time. Last night was the first time that he had seen a lot of the footage from 9/11/2001. I couldn't bear to watch it. My heart aches for all those who lost loved ones. The images of the rescuers brings tears to my eyes as they fought to save as many lives as they could; then seeing the anguish and awe on their faces as the towers fell. America prayed together and many relied on faith to get them through this most terrible time. It was a time when Americans looked to one another for strength and were truly UNITED.

No matter who the next president is, it's important that we all stand together to strengthen our nation. I hope that we can all remember how proud we were to be Americans following 9/11 and how blessed we are to live in these United States of America!

It's a BOY!!!

We had our ultrasound on August 27. We peeked and found out that we are having a boy! Rob and I are so excited! The ultrasound was amazing. We saw everything- his little heart, ten fingers and ten toes, arms, legs, his brain and spine, etc. Everything looks perfect. He is right on schedule to come January 11, 2009. During the ultrasound, he was VERY active- just kicking away. He is a very busy little baby, he is always wiggling around especially right after I eat. He is very low in the womb, using my bladder as a pillow, which explains my hourly trips to the bathroom- yes, already. In some of the pictures, I think that he looks just like Rob, but some he has some of my features. I guess that we'll have to wait to see what he really looks like when he is born.

As far as the pregnancy, I still wake up sick in the morning. I HAVE to take Zofran everyday or I throw up. I am finally back up to my prepregnancy weight and I am sure that next month will be my biggest weight gain so far. I have more of an appetite and I'm starting to have more energy. The funnest thing is that I actually look pregnant now. I get to wear maternity clothes finally and not just feel fat- if you have ever been pregnant, you understand.

We moved into a bigger apartment about the middle of August. I'm finally getting everything where I want it and making it feel like home again. I still have a few more pictures to hang on the wall and some little home decor, but for the most part it's finished. I only work two days a week, but somehow I seem to be so busy. Between cooking, cleaning, canning, shopping, projects and church stuff, there just doesn't seem to be much time in a day for blogging.

That is our update, sorry that it has taken me so long. I will post pictures soon, but atleast there is something new to read here. -Amanda

Girl's Camp

As some of you know, I am the Beehive adviser at church (the Beehives are the 12 and 13 year old girls), so I was asked to go to Girl's Camp. I was only able to go for Thursday and Friday because of work. It was so fun! The girl's are awesome and they just crack me up. We went to a place in Oregon near the Owyhee Resevoir. It is truly in the middle of the desert with rattlesnakes-yes, frightening- racoons and billions of bugs. I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, ahh the joys of pregnancy, and heard a noise in the tree nearby. I held up my light in front of me and saw four beady eyes staring back. Yikes! To my relief, if you could call it that, it registered that it was only two young racoons. Then, of course, panicked thoughts "racoons are mean, what if they attack me, what if they are rabid". Quite the imagination I have. I made it back to my tent unscathed and quickly crawled into my sleeping bag. Not exactly the best night's sleep ever, but I've said goodbye for several years to a good night's sleep.

The camp did have bathrooms with flushing toilet's and a kitchen with a fridge and stove. The campground was totally landscaped with beautiful green grass. Don't be deceived it was brown all around it. Some might say that is not really camping because in Montana, we really did rough it. You are right, but it was so nice to not have to cook over a campfire or use latrines. The coolest thing it had was this HUGE slip 'n' slide. It wasn't too steep, but was super fun!

My Brother's Wedding

So it's been forever since I've blogged, a very busy month. The middle of July we went to Twin Falls to go to the Twin Falls Temple open house. It was absolutely amazing! We didn't take any pictures because we left our camera in the car. Here is a link if you want to look at a picture.

The next weekend, we drove to Montana to see my family and go to my brother, Gabe's wedding. He got married July 26th. It was a very fun trip and it was so great to spend time with all of my siblings! Marie was wonderful, and let us stay with her again. We had a lot of fun playing with her kids and eating her delicious food! Jack, her 2 and 1/2 year old, affectionately started calling Rob "Jolly Roger". We don't know where he got it or if he just made it up, but it's hilarious. Here are some pictures from our trip.

Our Portland Trip

Those of you who read our blog know that we went to Portland for our friend's wedding recently. It was amazing! It has been a while since I have been to a temple wedding, it was so great to be reminded of the things that are most important and how simple and beautiful the Gospel is! The Portland Temple is so stunning! It looks so white and brilliant with all the green that surrounds it. I loved it!!!

We had so much fun at the wedding reception! The food was great. And the dancing... the picture says it all.
After the reception, we drove up to Olympia, WA to visit my sister, Cassie. On Saturday, we went to the beach. Here is Rob catching some rays. Cassie has the best pictures of us.
After the beach, we got cleaned up (ie: cleaned the sand from all the nooks and crannies that it somehow finds itself in) We met my brothers in Tacoma and had a fun filled dinner. Here is Josh, me, Cassie and Derek all smiling our biggest smiles. Derek cracks me up!!! My brother, Gabe, who is the only one of the original five not with us in Tacoma, is getting married in a few weeks. I am sure that we will have many more exciting pictures from the wedding. It should be so much fun to all get together again!
